THE FUND OF THE "NORWEGIAN FORMATION EVALUATION SOCIETY"

 

Article 1. Objective

The purpose of the Norwegian Formation Evaluation Society Fund (NFES Fund) is to stimulate work within formation evaluation and to honor candidates for their enhanced contribution to Formation Evaluation in Norway.

 

Article 2. Organization

The NFES Fund is organized by the Norwegian Formation Evaluation Society Fund Committee (NFES Fund Committee) underlying the Norwegian Formation Evaluation Society Board (NFES Board).

The Chairman of the NFES Fund Committee shall report to the President NFES.

 

Article 3. NFES Fund Committee

The NFES Fund will be run by a NFES Fund Committee consisting of four members appointed by the NFES Board. The NFES Board will appoint a Chairman of the NFES Fund Committee which shall report directly to the President NFES.

The NFES Fund Committee shall consist of four members of which a minimum of two represent the industry and one represent a University or Higher Education Institute.

The Fund Committee shall recommend candidates for the Board's consideration.

 

Article 4. NFES Fund

The amount of NOK 300,000.- is set aside on a closed bank account which interests primarily should be used for foundational purposes such as;

* support (grants) of maximum NOK 10.000, for participating in conferences (preferably international conferences) wherein the candidate will present a paper.

* support of maximum NOK 10.000, for laboratory experiments in connection with studies at a higher education institute.

* honoring candidates who have published/presented papers/articles covering the aspects of formation evaluation by an award of up to NOK 7.500.

* honoring candidates who have shown a particular interest in or made special contributions to the development or acknowledgement of formation evaluation in Norway by a special gift of the value NOK 3.000 to 5.000. Candidates should be recommended at least every third year by the Fund Committee.

* scholarships to Advanced Students of Dr.ing. or equivalent with the amount of NOK 10.000.-. covering particular expenses related to work on their thesis such as laboratory expenses, travelling expenses or similar. A thesis must be submitted according to the rules of the University

Article 5. NFES Fund Disposition

The NFES Fund can only be disposed with the signatures of the Chairman of the NFES Fund Committee, the Vice President Finance (NFES), and the President (NFES).

The NFES Fund shall be audited by the Vice President Finance (NFES).

Amendment to NFES Fund Statues September 1997:

In a resolution made by NFES Board in the September 1997 Board Meeting it is stated the following:

Members publishing a paper on formation evaluation related topics at an internationally recognized conference or in an internationally magazine shall be granted an award of NOK 2.500 by NFES Fund. This applies unless there is applied for and granted a larger amount according to the NFES Fund statutes.

The award may only be given to a member or a group of members which are considered as main author/authors of the paper. One paper shall only receive one award of NOK 2.500.

Candidates to this award should be identified by the Fund Committee after end of each calender year. No technical evaluation of the quality of the papers should be performed by the Fund Committee. The acceptance of the paper by the conference committee or magazine editors is sufficient.

The awards shall be presented at a special event arranged by NFES in the first half of every following year.

This resolution shall come into force from the year 1997, and prevail until the NFES Board puts it out of effect in writing.
